Job Description

• Assisting with the evaluation and marketing of current Red Cross services and initiatives
• Assisting with the evaluation of the effectiveness of current promotional materials, recommending changes, and assisting with the design, production and distribution of promotional and presentation materials
• Assisting with the volunteer recruitment process, as required within the Region
• Assisting in the design, development, production and distribution of volunteer recruitment materials
• Receiving client account payments, course payments and donations, logging cheques, issuing receipts, balancing daily cash log
• Responding to inquiries regarding programs and services offered by the Red Cross providing information and assistance
• Directing callers to other community agencies or information sources where appropriate
• Logging all requests for service calls and producing statistical reports as required
• Providing administrative support to the functioning of the branch services
• Duties may include but not limited to:
• Processing all mail
• Maintaining filing system
• Controlling inventory
• Updating and maintaining manuals and policies as required
• Making arrangements and participating in various activities to promote Red Cross
• Ensuring volunteer compliance with policies and procedures
• Maintaining current data bases
• Planning/Booking of meetings and trips
• Maintaining on site logistics
• Integrating volunteer resources within the job’s scope of responsibilities
• Participating in branch fundraising activities
• Maintain records/files and statistics;
• Participate in branch fundraising activities;
• Follow all policies and procedures as required to maintain a healthy and safe working environment;
• Update and maintain branch manuals;
• Strong administrative and client contact skills;
• Perform other duties as required;

Job Benefits / Requirements

• The minimum qualifications for this position are one to two years of post-secondary education in office administration and between one to three years job related experience as Assistant/Secretary or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office software applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook)
• Organizational skills and the ability to understand detailed information
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Interpersonal skills to form effective working relationships with people at all levels
