Job Description:
The Employment Coach is responsible for delivering a comprehensive approach to employment services, guiding job seekers through the full continuum of training including though not limited to Leadership Training, Motivation, Contemplating Change, N.O.W, Resume& Cover Letter, Interview Prep & Mock Interviews. This role focuses on providing personalized training and support through group formats, addressing the individual needs of clients to help them gain and retain meaningful employment. The Employment Coach acts as a facilitator, connecting clients to the necessary resources, tools, and support systems required for long-term success.

The role involves providing training through group formats, facilitating workshops, developing content, and delivering sessions both in person and online.
Additionally, the Employment Coach may provide on-the-job coaching and support as needed. The role also involves collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuous communication, address any issues that may arise during job placements, and maintain a focus on equipping clients to succeed in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitation:
- Develop course materials and facilitate classroom/workshops for groups and individual training sessions.
- Prepare, deliver, and adapt lesson plans and classroom activities that cater to individuals’ learning styles, needs, and interests.
- Identify, research, and create resources to enhance training programs.
- Develop and regularly update individual client action plans.
- Facilitate in-person and virtual (D2L) group sessions, ensuring an inclusive and positive learning environment that encourages client participation and growth.
- Establish and promote a positive learning environment.
- Assist with transitions to employment placement.
Employment Coaching:
- Provide counseling and coaching to support individuals with issues and barriers to employment.
- Support preparation of job search tools, including resumes, cover letters, interview, and job search strategies.
- Provide appropriate referrals to outside agencies as required.
- Develop strategies to identify potential issues and facilitate job retention.
- Provide coaching in skills that support successful employment.
Employer Engagement and Collaboration:
- Assist Job Developers in ensuring employers meet eligibility criteria and conduct site visits to ensure Ministry guidelines are met.
- Support Job Developers in providing employers with information about the program and promote leadership training and coaching.
- Support Job Developers in matching individuals with employment opportunities based on skills and interests.
- Support Job Developers in facilitating work opportunities and negotiating employment relationships on behalf of clients, including job matching and placement agreements.
- Assist Job Developers with monitoring and evaluating each placement.
- Provide coaching and support during placement, identifying and resolving workplace issues.
Program Administration:
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate electronic and paper records required by the program funder and the organization.
- Conduct needs assessments with program participants to determine suitability for training programs.
- Assess employability and skills requirements to develop action plans for clients.
- Track, report, and monitor client progress in achievement, goals, and attendance through regular contact.
- Complete training supports/stipend logs and submit documents for timely processing and payment of financial incentives.
- Track monthly statistics and submit them to the program manager.
- Attend staff meetings and engage in professional development activities.
Marketing and Community Awareness:
- Conduct active outreach to the community to recruit participants and employers, identifying opportunities and promoting job matching.
- Liaise with community agencies to promote the program and recruit participants.
- Work in collaboration with the Marketing & Communication Officer to promote the program and recruit participants.
- Liaise with potential employers to seek employment opportunities and facilitate job matching.
- Attend community events, job fairs, and network with community partners and services.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Services, Adult Education, Human Resources, Career Development, or a related field.
- 1 -3 years of experience in group facilitation, employment coaching, training, or workforce development programs.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals facing employment barriers.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging training content for groups in both in-person and virtual settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in both official languages is an asset
- Class G Driver’s License with access to a reliable, insured vehicle and a clean driving record
